Ey up!! My name is Levi Kaplan Skolnik, and I am a performer currently located in Rochester, NY. I was born in downtown Orlando, FL, and raised in the suburbs, save for a few years in a small town out in the countryside called Sorrento, FL, and another few years in Harpenden, Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom.
So the story goes, I’ve always had an inclination towards music and performing, with my family noting that I was always humming a tune since I was a toddler (and to this day I still am, many times every day). It didn’t take long to become involved with the kids’ choir at my synagogue, where my love for both singing and involvement in my heritage was first fostered. I was also put into piano lessons at age 5, but even before that I would get my hands on the keys and play something that was probably quite dissonant, which may be why my parents got me into actual lessons. With the perfect storm brewing, my love for theatre officially began in elementary school, when the drama teacher called my mother asking if she was okay with me being cast as the lead in the first grade school musical. She said yes, my twin sister and I shortly thereafter joined a children’s theatre company, and it all took off from there.
I began my BFA Musical Theatre degree at Molloy University/CAP21 on Long Island and in Manhattan, NY. After my first year, I transferred to Nazareth University in Rochester, NY where I completed my bachelor’s. Shows I’ve been fortunate enough to work on in my undergraduate years include Ride the Cyclone (Noel, Nazareth University and North Star Theatre Co.), The Bald Soprano (Mr. Smith, Nazareth University), Merrily We Roll Along (Ensemble and u/s Charley, Nazareth University), and Matilda the Musical (Rudolpho/Escapologist, Eustis State Theatre).
When I’m not working on a production, you might find me dabbling in some part-time hobbies (such as language learning and makeup), doing work in interfaith advocacy, talking to friends and family in various accents and voices, planning my next crazy travel story, or playing lefty out on the tennis court!
If you’ve read this far, thank you so much!! I truly appreciate it, and hope we can connect soon!
